Archdiocese of New York
Established April 8, 1808
After Baltimore, New York was one of the first four sees in the United States (with Boston, Philadelphia, and Bardstown). Its first bishop was Richard Concanen, though he never resided there, dying in Naples while awaiting transport across the Atlantic.
