Venerable Patrick Peyton, CSC (1909–1992)

Born in Ireland, Peyton came to the United States in 1928. With Bp. Fulton Sheen, Peyton was one of the most popular American priests of the twentieth century. His rosary crusades drew huge crowds around the world—500,000 in San Francisco and New York. He produced films and radio and TV programs that enlisted some of Hollywood's top talent and that promoted the theme that became his ministry's slogan: "The family that prays together stays together."
