Joseph Sibbel (1850–1907)

Sculptor

Born and trained in Germany, Sibbel emigrated to Cincinnati in 1873. Failing to find success there, he went to New York, where he was eventually accepted by Catholic church decorators as an outstanding artist. His statues adorn many churches, but he was best known for a statue of St. Patrick in St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York, since removed.
