Mission San Xavier del Bac

Tucson, Arizona

Founded 1700

Known as the "White Dove of the Desert," the mission was founded by Fr. Eusebio Kino to serve the native residents of what is now southern Arizona, the Tohono O'odham. The present church, begun in 1783, is located two miles south of Kino's site.
