The American College of the Immaculate Conception

Founded 1857

Bishops Martin Spalding and Peter Paul Lefevre led efforts to found the American College as a place where American seminarians could be educated according to European standards and European men could be trained for service in the United States. It merged with the Catholic University of Louvain in 1897.
