Venerable Terence Cardinal Cooke (1921–1983)
Archbishop of New York, Archbishop of the Military Services, 1968–1983
A native of New York, Cooke became a priest for that archdiocese in 1945. He became the tenth bishop of New York and joined the college of cardinals in 1969.
