A group of five of the Society of Jesus who became known collectively for their contribution to the new forms of liturgical music, characterized by folk tunes and guitar accompaniment, that became common following the Second Vatican Council. The five began recording music when they were seminarians at St. Louis University. Their names were John Foley, Dan Schutte, Bob Dufford, Tim Manion, and Roc O'Connor. Their album, Earthen Vessels, sold more than a million copies after its release in 1975.
