Patrick Walsh (1840–1900) 
Journalist, Senator
Born in Ireland, Walsh's family immigrated to Charleston, South Carolina in 1852. After education at Georgetown College and service in the state militia during the Civil War, he worked in journalism. He was a state legislator from 1872 to 1876 and was a US Senator (Democrat) from South Carolina from 1894 to 1895.
