Patrick Henry Callahan (1866–1940)

Business executive

President of the Louisville Varnish Company, P.H. Callahan knew personally H.L. Mencken and William Jennings Bryan, was in favor of Prohibition, and opposed the candidacy of Al Smith. Concerned with implementing papal social teaching within his business, he enlisted the collaboration of Msgr. John Ryan in establishing a profit-sharing plan.
