Bishop Michael Egan (1761–1814)
First bishop of Philadelphia, 1810–1814
A native of Ireland, Egan was a missionary in the Lancaster area of Pennsylvania before being made pastor of St. Marys Church in Philadelphia. Egan's tenure as bishop was troubled by ongoing trustee disputes.
