Leonard Calvert (1607–1647)
Governor of Maryland, 1634–1647
Appointed by his brother Cecil to head the expedition colonizing Maryland, Leonard came with the other settlers aboard the Ark and the Dove. He had to deal with strife between Catholics and Protestants in the colony and was exiled for a time in Virginia.
