Saint Katharine Drexel (1855–1955) St. Katharine Drexel

Drexel grew up in a wealthy Philadelphia family. Motivated by a desire to assist especially black and Native Americans, Drexel founded a religious congregation, the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. She and her sisters founded many educational and charitable institutions, including Xavier University in New Orleans. She was canonized October 1, 2000.
