Fr. Joseph Bayma, SJ (1816–1892)

Scientist

Born in Italy, Bayma joined the Jesuits in 1832. In 1868, he came to the United States, assuming the rectorship of St. Ignatius College. In 1871, he moved to the Jesuit college at Santa Clara, where he taught mathematics.
