Father John Ming, SJ (1838–1910)

Philosopher

Ming was born in Switzerland, studied in Germany, and taught in Austria, before coming to the United States in 1872. After a stint in Milwaukee, he taught philosophy at Spring Hill College in Alabama, and then at Canisius College and St. Louis University. He wrote chiefly about evolution and socialism, his articles appearing in the American Catholic Quarterly Review.
