John LaFarge (1835–1910)

Artist

Born of French parentage in New York, LaFarge studied art at American Catholic schools and in Paris. He became one of the most famous artists of nineteenth-century America and his murals, stained glass, and other works decorate numerous churches and government buildings across New England and the East Coast. His son was John LaFarge, SJ.
