Conrad Nicholson Hilton (1887–1979)
Business executive
Born, raised, and educated in New Mexico, Hilton began in politics as a representative in that state's legislature. After a stint in the Army during World War I, Hilton bought his first hotel in 1919 in Texas. He formed the Hilton Corporation in 1946. He was deeply influenced by the charitable work of Catholic sisters and willed that his estate be used to further that cause.
