Avery Cardinal Dulles, S.J. (1918–2008) 
Theologian
Son of former secretary of state John Foster Dulles, Avery converted to Catholicism while studying at Harvard Law School. After a stint in the Navy during World War II, he joined the Society of Jesus. He was one of America's preeminent theologians, teaching at Woodstock Theological Seminary, Georgetown, and Catholic University. He was made a cardinal in 2001.
