Archbishop Ambrose Maréchal (1764–1828)
Archbishop of Baltimore, 1817–1828
Born in France, Maréchal entered the Sulpician order and was ordained in 1792, coming to America the same year. He was made archbishop in 1817 and among his accomplishments was finishing construction of the city's cathedral.
