Founding of the Knights of Columbus

March 29, 1882

The origins of the world's largest Catholic fraternal organization lie in a meeting called by Father Michael McGivney in New Haven, Connecticut, October 2, 1881. The men in attendance formed the nucleus for the the association, which was incorporated in March of the following year.
